Abstract

Discourse of Islamic thought in Indonesia have centered on relation between al- Qur’an and local culture. Both of Arabic local culture before al-Qur’an are revealed and Arabic local culture from era which al-Qur’an reveals, and Arabic local culture and non-Arabic after al-Qur’an reveals. The understanding about this relation is important for avoid misunderstanding between religion and al-Qur’an, between relevance religion discourse and reality of clasical and contemporary Arabic culture, and between relevance religion discourse and not Arabic culture like Indonesia. Without understanding from this proces, misunderstanding could not be avoided. Arabication, Islamization and purification and etnization are models of religion understanding with local culture which are differentiated by repression and using approach. It is need for special epistemologis analysis which can unify and select to model of al-Qur’an relation logicly as resource of islamic basic with local culture that both of them Arabic and non Arabic. For the reason, this paper trying to make cultural, semantic and hermeneutical analysis as a unity of mutual coherence in seeing relation of them
