Abstract

Islam as rahmatan lil-'ālamīn actually has to deal with the modern civilization that is globalized, sophisticated, and advanced in all aspects of life accompanied by various
problems that surround it. Such as: social inequality, greed, exploitation, mutual destruction, materialist hedonism, nihilism, and various moral deviations that lead to the loss of meaning life and spiritual illness. This study is based on literature review with a focus on the study of indigenization of Islam through the lyrics of Lir-ilir song by Sunan Kalijaga and its contribution to the modern crisis. The results of this study indicate that farmers' life philosophy becomes a fundamental symbol in Lir-ilir song. Lir-ilir song is packed with beautiful lyrics, fun, not patronizing, and has deep meaning
in accordance with the context of Muslim life. According to Sunan Kalijaga of the Lir-ilir poemit is understood that
an ordinary Muslim or an official Muslim(khalifatullāh)
must have great strength,courage,resilience, and patience(jihādunnafs) in carrying out his duties and responsibilities in the world. Constraints and problems without stopping must be passed by applying religious values and exemplary order to become a perfect human (Insan kamil). In the context of modernity this research can be a means to deal with various individual, social, and civic issues.
